Rear wheel rumble

I have an S Type that has a noise that seems to come from the rear passenger side wheel. At about 30-40 under slight acceleration i hear and feel a rumble, its as if the wheel was loose, but its not. I goes away after a few seconds or speeding up /slowing own.
Cold this be a symptom of bearings needing changing..or something else ?
Any advise gratefully received.

It is certainly possible and worth checking but check the other wheels too as it can be hard to tell where the rumble is coming from. Have you had any new tyres put on before this started or have the brakes been worked on?

Wheel balance could be, brake rotor a possiblity. Jack the car up and see if you have any play in the suspect rear wheel by grabbing the wheel at the 3 and 9 positions and push/pull, then repeat at 12/6 position.
Hi Robin,
We had a very similar problem with our '03 V8 S-Type when it was first purchased in 2010. The mechanic found a bad wheel bearing at the passenger side rear wheel. Balance was first checked but it didn't show to be the cause.
