There was a thread on this about a year ago.
Don't remember exactly when.

Basically just pop off the passenger airbag veneer panel and move the steel lever to release the larger panel.

Here you go, details in post #24:

And now the big question:

Why are you removing the trim? Problems with the instrument cluster? Repairing or replacing the wood trim?

Hi thanks for the information it is very detailed fantastic I will be having a go at it this weekend.

the reason for removing the trim is so that I can remove the instrument cluster as the car won’t rev above 2500rpm and when tested it says communication bus fault instrument cluster and open circuit so I am told to check cluster for damage also wiring harness

regards
Trev

Is this while in gear and driving? Or stationary with the transmission in Park or Neutral? There's a automatic rev limiter when in P or N, but I could have sworn it was 3000 RPM. But if you're only experiencing this while in P or N, could be your car has a different limit for reasons unknown.

Are you seeing any other fault indications? Restricted performance message? Check engine light? If no other symptoms, everything else seems to work, and the revs are only limited in P or N, these messages may not mean much of anything. They might be caused by an interface problem with the scanner, and not necessarily anything wrong with the car.

If you still suspect the instrument cluster, don't try swapping it with another unit. The cluster is the heart of the security system, and is coded to the VIN. If you swap in another module, you'll get a disagree that may brick the car. I can't remember all the details, but it certainly isn't plug 'n play.

the problem is all the time I have changed coils plugs filters etc I have new injectors to put in as well just waiting to get the manifold gasket’s but I would still like to eliminate all faults and replace some of the bulbs that don’t work on the instrument cluster and find out why it is showing bus communication fault

'Bus Communication Fault' is often caused by a failing or weak battery. It can also be caused by damage to the wiring loom(s) or connectors.

Please list all the DTCs stored in the system so a proper diagnosis can be made.
