Default Replace S-Type stick-on logo

I've just bought a new S-Type stick-on logo for the trunk lid as the old one had lost its "chrome" finish. The sticky side of the new trim piece doesn't seem to be really sticky. Do I have to heat the thing? Or is there some gimmick I don't know about? I think I have to heat the old one to get it off, perhaps with a hair dryer (?). Any advice appreciated.

No you do not need to heat up the SType pieces to stick on. They are applied with a foam/cushy double sided tape.

If they are new, you just peel and stick.

If you bought it used, then you need to buy new automotive 3M double sided tape and reapply. Scrape off the old crap first.

OR you can just leave the SType off completely and put a XF Leaper badge there

No, that would look ridiculous.

What Bull said plus: the easiest way to take off the old badge..Heat it up with a blow drier. Then take fishing line (or I've had success with dental floss) and slide it behind the emblem and cut through the old tape. Be sure to clean off the old adhesive real well. Rubbing alcohol works well.

Then I must be ridiculous. I ripped that SType badge right off there and threw a leaper on the trunk lid. Looks sleeker, updated and unique in my opinion.

You're correct, Jeff. With your luck lately, as soon as you pull those badges you will indeed see more rust....

The squigly sperm thing originated from Pantomath, haven't seen him around recently.

I have been reading your other thread in horror. I am blown away that that kind of corrosion is happening so quickly. Unreal.

Those exhaust tips are awesome, especially with the new rear valence.

That's a great looking car Bull!

Where did you get those clear sidemarker blinkers?

Jag didn't change the exhaust tips from the earlier STR, did they?
(they look like the ones on my 2004)

Thanks George, the tips are actually aftermarket and were welded on when the exhaust was done. In comparison, they are significantly bigger than the stock one's.

I havent really compared 03,and 04's when it comes to the rear, but by valance, are you talking about the plastic piece in the bottom center?

Not really sure the exterior difference is in the front either, EXCEPT there are no FOGLIGHTS! But we all know that from my incessant bitching on past threads

Oh, and the clear sidemarkers were from Ebay, they just pop right off and I also got "chromium" bulbs that apprear clear/silver when off but flash amber. Cleans it up a bit I think.

Yeah I have HID fogs on my lowly 3.0...

Here's a pic from the day the S-Type came home. As you can tell the earlier ones don't have the lower black plastic pieces. The bumper cover is one piece.

My exhaust tips are stained and dull, and look like little toys.. Can you tell me how big your tips are diameter wise?

George

Yea that's what I was referring to. Haven't seen him since the whole "cop" battle....

Yea, It blows me away as well. I has to be a quirk since no one else has piped up with the same issue. I just hope that Jaguar is as nice and helpful as my dealer is...

Time for the nerdy me to distinguish the 03 from the 05 (Note the only body difference between an R and base are body color bits and grill) the 05 has an updated rear bumper, tail lamps, and deck lid. Even the base car has the black plastic that runs across the bottom of the bumper from tip to tip. The nose was updated with a new hood, bumper, and grill....
One note about the 05 R...It is the only year that the strip on the trunk that runs between the tail lamps is body color. From 06 and up it is chrome just like a base car...

Which black plastic? (Can't figure it, not disagreeing.)

Yeah. Odd. The 03-04 had a strip that was shorter but also body color.

Here are pictures of both... (as best as I could find on the web). The black plastic at the bottom of the bumper on the 05+ that surrounds the exhausts is kind of hard to see on Bull's car cause everything is black..

This also clearly shows that Bull's Exhaust tips aren't stock

Hope this clears it up.

Thanks - still can't see that it is (or isn't) black at the bottom, though. Looks more like a shadow.
