Default Replacing the EPB Module

2007 S type 2.7D & love it.....but 'Handbrake fault' msg, locked in 'P' park. Only solution is disconnect battery for 30+ minutes then all good until next time. But its getting worse.
Ive done the re-calibration steps, replaced with new battery, checked breaks & cables. The EPB motor is engaging & disengaging with no issue.
Its not cold weather, live in France! My last attempt to fix before taking to the dealership ($$$), replace the module. Is it just a simple take off the 2 plugs on the module, unbolt & replace with new module? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Stew

On my 2005 S-Type back in the spring of 2015, the new EPB module had to be an exact part number and revision match before the system would function again. And the new module had to be programmed using the indie shop's Autologic system before it would operate properly. So no, it is not simply a plug-and-play replacement....

Default Replacing the EPB Module

Thanks Jon89. I have the correct part # C2C39404, used but good (apparently). Im wondering if because its a used part from a scrapped S type of same year whether it needs re programming as its not 'New, out of the box'. Trying to avoid as a last resort the dealership, mechanics around here when they see its a Jag & electronics just refuse to go further & point me to the dealership. Anyway thanks for the info. S.

For an electronic solenoid pulled parking brake I wonder what was so different from 2003 through the end of the run that it required such close handshaking of the car's ECUs and the unit installed?

Ah for the days of an E brake handle or even a foot pedal ... much better for drifting too ...

It moved computer buses and it's not so simple as a solenoid (let's not forget the motor) - e.g. it reports various errors (such as overcurrent on the motor) via those buses.

Jaguar moved closer and closer to CAN (away from Ford's proprietary SCP), a bus/network mandated by law.

That said, a compatible module does not normally need re-programming.

If the designers can insinuate computers into a solution they will ... This automatic parking been implemented before WO a computer nanny, I think it was Cadillac or maybe Lincoln. I do like the all windows open on a hot day though ...

Hey John just wondering if your repair went smoothly? I have the same problem, I went to a jag dealership n they said it’s the parking brake module causing my car beeping when it’s on. They said it would be 940$ plus tax to repair it. I found the exact part number n item on eBay for sale (used) if I was to purchase it and just plug it in would it work ?

Hi Marcus, sorry for late reply. There was absolutely no problem, unscrewed the old box and did a simple swap, the car drove fine no issues BUT my problem didnt go away so it wasnt the EPB module. I ended having to take it to the dealership and they think my electrical problem stems from the ZF hydraulic transmission so this is been replaced now. I can tell that this is going to cost $$$$

Huh? The dealership THINKS the transmission is the problem? For what that is going to cost, I'd want them to KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Also, did you see this comment back in post #2?:

In that instance, some programming WAS required with a used replacement module.

+1

A trans is hugely expensive so I would not be letting that happen without very solid evidence - which appears absent.
