Unhappy restricted performance Again !!

hi guys,
I know this has been covered quite a bit before but have yet to find any helpful ones ...
bit of history on the car -- just got done the transmission oil and filter replacement car shifting much better ,, also i m dealing with the serpertine belt slipping off the alternator I would find it half way off,,im looking at tensioner as the culprid , it seens to moving a bit
however today it seens the belt stayed on no problem .however keep getting " RESTERICTED PERFORMANCE ' " message so I used my Icarsoft I930 to do an engine module diagnostics getting the following messages//;

fault in communications with vehicle ECU
please confirm
1. this vehicle is armed with system
2. this system is an electrical control system.
3. the diagnostics connector is ok
4.the ignition switch is on

wondering if somebody has dealt with this messages and what to look for ?

Lots of other posts already on that, showing that tool is buggy.

It may have a mode where you can persuade it to connect - hunt around its settings - but otherwise you'll need a working tool (even an elm327).

The $64,000 question:

Have you successfully used this particular scanner on your car before? Your description is not clear about that.

Just trying to get a handle whether these communication error messages are caused by the car or the scanner.

My icarsoft I930 is not buggy. ,
you can not enter the ECM via a regular jaguar specific multiple module scan , (”Diagnose”)
you have to enter the option “OBD11 Diagnostic” and go from there to get to ECM .

the icarsoft can run 4 sensors at once on a rolling graph . Or show you all sensors numerically also in the option “data stream”

i did do a step by step with photos in a thread some were on here . have a search .

your restricted performance will be a seperate issue to your icarsoft concern .
possibly battery voltage/condition. Vacuum leak , dead sensor blocked cat , could be anything and you’ll have to work that out .

muchas gracias - guys ..

I have used the icarsoft scanner only on the basics , I really need to learn to use to do more stuff Datsports I will take your advice and look for the steps by steps on it .

on another note I did cleaned the MAF sensor with appropriate cleaner I bought at autopart and also I temporarely removed the air filter extensions that connects top of radiator not sure what that is called ? drove it to work , gym and back home -- NO " check engine lights or restricted performance message "
also the transmission felt shifting better Only continuing issues found serpertine belt half off alternator when I got to work .. will order new tensioner
also a/c does not work compressor not coming on

For the serpentine belt, use a breaker bar to loosen the tensioner. You may need a help to hold it. With tension released, shake all of the pulleys and see if there is any play. The tensioner itself may not be at fault. Could be a wobbly pulley letting the belt jump. I'd replace the belt as a precaution, too. It is probably damaged after repeatedly working loose.

Now for the inop AC, if only there was a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, written by an amazingly modest and nice-smelling guy, the kind of person who makes the world a better place just with his presence. Hmmm...

I can see the tensioner kind of vibrating too much , for what is worth I asked my co-worker who works on cars a lot for a second opinion he thought it was moving too much too..i will check the other pulleys too and inspect the belt too it was new .. I did order a new tensioner from rockauto well see how it goes with that

update : got new tensioner put in now belts starts coming off sooner so I removed belt found belt damaged haha! maybe bad belt from ebay and old tensioner
may have contributed , not much play on other pulleys

on another note : I have tried searching on " how to do or understand data streaming using Icarsot I930 Datsport do you have a link or any idea where is that tread ? would like to understand what should I be seeing as far as the data numbers !!!
the car is NOT getting any check engine lights or restricted performance ..oh yea after replacing transmission filter and oil car shifting much better
