it would seam to me that if you are a trained service tech working on anything on the lift. it would be a common practice to mark and replace all fasteners in a drive line in the same position in which they came out.
needing this type of information in a technical publication written for such a person would seam redundant. this type of information would be expected in a do it your self book such as a Haynes or Chilton manual, unfortunately there dose not seam to be any of these for these cars.

JagV8 you bring up a good point? I can't find where I read that but maybe I am wrong about no converter lockup in 4th gear? I had read that only 5th and 6th lock up but can't find it now?

If anyone has a source for when the ZF 6 speed locks the converter please post it!

I have a contact with ZF and I can send him a note but it might take a few days for an answer.

Does the 2005 S-Type have a split shaft with a hanger and universal joints? If it does I would be checking them first.

The drive shaft has rubber flex couplings on each end and a split shaft. We do have a drive-shaft support bearing too.
