Default S type 2006 getting old like me

I have a 2006 S Type 2.5 twin turbo diesel. I have managed to put 155k on the clock. Mostly trouble free motoring but wondering what I should look out for with this type of mileage, or should I be thinking of getting rid? It still drives lovely and a perfect motorway car :-) Toby.

How-do and welcome. You'll find that it's the 2.7l AJD-V6 unit you have, no? Those things are properly strong. 155,000 is nothing to particularly worry about. Sell it?? Not on your Nelly!!

Welcome.

The resale value on these cars is pretty low. I'd just drive it until it dies of old age. Repairs can easily exceed the value of the car.

I've been really lucky so far or perhaps this is is normal but I have just had one issue with some cheap valves from the manifold that caused the reduced performance light to come on (that was less than £100 to repair at a jag dealer) and a wiring issues where it was rubbing against the front chassis. Oh plus one new near side cat that was a bit pricey as that had rusted at the joint causing fumes in the cabin. Today, the headlamp failed for the first time. I think that is pretty good value for money over 7 years.

I'd see it as the devil you know. I hope you've had cambelt etc changed but otherwise just carry on. I doubt it'll be mileage that kills it.

Oh - have you had the autobox (if it has one, but it likely has) oil & filter & sleeve changed - DIY how to in the stickies. And at least check the bolts on the side of the thing are snug, now

It's "sealed for life" but the life will be much longer if serviced. Jag won't do it so DIY or indy or good autobox place. Bristol Transmissions do kits including the special oil or use Millers Oils Millermatic ATF DM.

Thanks. Yes the cam belt has been changed and the car has had all its jag services through its life. I'm getting the message to keep it. I wonder what the highest mileage is on a 2006 car?

Don't know but an older 2.5 (petrol) was 225,000 or so. Try autotrader and just high mileage. Might find some.
