s type autofold mirrors on locking
Hi all over the pond,
I had autofold on locking/unlocking on my M-B E320 and a great feature too- especially as my hearing is going and can't hear the locks or see well in bright light. I've read all the threads I can find and was hoping to get feedback from a US cousin on how to wire up your folding mirrors to activate when you press the lock button on the fob and to unfold on the unlock button.
But it appears that the feature is rare in the US spec, if it exists at all. All the threads I can find are on the x-type forum and the x-type wiring is completely different.
The technique used (apologies; novice here) is to piggyback a 12v 30A 5 pin relay off autofold power and pulse wires to activate the mirror fold circuit in the driver's door switchpack. This tends to be using the wiring for the double-locking circuit (European spec) so I could be barking up the wrong tree on 2 counts.
Still there's a vast amount of wisdom out here in this forum so I wondered if anyone could help.
Regards,
Gordon

Sounds like it should work but I don't recall anyone doing it.
You may need to get the specific wiring diagram for your car - and note there are no diesel jags in USA/Canada so not many if any will be able to help for your model. Diagram should be on jag's TOPIx but you have to pay.
Would be exactly wrong for me as I need to fold mine at other times to get it through the garage door opening!

Folding mirrors are possible with the S type. It appears to have been a factory add on option as there is a kit that was available. I considered adding it to my 2005 but never priced all the parts. It's a bit expensive because of the added motor to fold the mirror. They already fold manually.
As you said they are very rare in the US.
If I can remember I will post the part number of the kit.
