S-Type love

As a one-year lurker but new member here, I thought I'd throw out some praise for the S-Type for anyone who might be concerned that most of our posts have to do with problems.
I've put 16,000 miles on my 2003 S-Type 4.2 and loved every minute of it. The mating of the ZF 6-speed and the 4.2's 300 horsepower is a thing of beauty, with power available instantly. Or, it's content to cruise and get 28-30 mpg on the highway. Your choice.
The styling is fabulous, and the leather buckets are superb in every way. My car now has 62,000 miles and has had the following service: transmission reprogram at 50,000 miles(under warranty, but would have cost $200 otherwise), front brake pads at 46,000, a sticky hood latch. My leaper was stolen (of course) and I'm shopping for a replacement, or mightput on a badge instead.
It is one of life's great pleasures to blast down a highway, see an opening around a curve, switch on "sport" mode and smoothly shoot down 3 gears with the engine softly purring out the tailpipes, hands around a wooden steering wheel, and the sun setting behind you.

I wish I could say the same. I've got the six, so I don't quite have the same get up and go feeling to it. I kinda wish I had gotten the 4.2 but I kind of need the highway mileage. I have a V8 SC400 to give me the sporty feel. Though I have plans for a 2JZ in the future.

I have to agree with NewJagger, I also have alot of love for my Jag.. We’ve had a Jag for about six months now and it is always a pleasure to take it out for a spin. We test drove the V6 and the V8 back to back and it was a no brainer, we went with the V8 4.2.
One time we drove it over three hundreds miles on about half a tank. The on board computer said that we were averaging 32 mpg all freeway miles of course. The car is garage kept, so she is always immaculate, but she still gets a bath about once every two weeks. I love going into the garage and just looking at her.
When we go out and invite friends, when we show up in the Jag they seem all stuck. My honey even let one of her girl friends drive the car and said that every time she stepped on the gas, she got moist. Haha best comment I’ve heard yet.
The Jag has the perfect combination of luxury, driver feed back, and unique looks. It just feels solid and I feel pampered driving my S-type. BMW, Merc’s, Audi’s, and Lexus are fine automobiles, but they are a dime a dozen around here, so to me the Jag has a certain mystique. I can easily see my self owning this car for the next 30-40 years, garage kept of course.

Round of Applause for Newjagger [sm=groupwave.gif]
I was talking to my Brother about that XF video where he critisized S Type R, and I told him that hes such a dumb, that hes critisizing all the Unique aspects of S Type!!
When I was searching for a Car, I bring my search down to4 cars in the end.
M5
CL 500
Jag S Type R
Audi A8
I start looking for reviews. Beleive me, everyone post about how this cars look, handles, drives better then alot of other well known luxury sportscars they previously owned. The very fine thin line between a Sports Coupe and a luxury Sedan is one of the best point for the R, and they have a stiffer suspension!! Plus you can find alot of other models on the road buta Jagstill has that Uniqueness that other dont.
This is one of the review I like the most and which help me going for my Jag.

Oilman,
I agree with you. I LOVE riding in my Jag when it comes to getting on the road and just cruising for a while. But for my get up and go, for now I'm sticking with my SC. Post grad though, I'm looking at importing a Nissan Skyline R34, Nissan GTR (when it comes out), or getting a BMW M5. Still up in the air since I don't know to what extent I want to modify my cars, or my Jag once I get there.
