Default S-Type Radiator & Tranny Fluids Mixing

wanted to give my beloved S-Type lovers a heads up. I own a 2005 S-Type V8-Sport Limited Edition with the XK8 interior and aluminum dash with 18" Conti's. Took the car in for the whooping tranny noise (this happened on my 2003 too) and they added the lubricant, 3 months later the noise was back. Somehow the radiator went bad and the radiator fluid and transmission fluid started to mix together. I do not know how to explain it technically, but, under warranty Jaguar replaced my entire transmission and radiator at no charge. They flew the tranny in from England. They were kind of hush, hush about it and brought in people from Jaguar to inspect my car. If anyone out there has a recurring problem with the tranny whooping, you may want to see if somehow your radiator fluid is mixing into your tranny... I love the way the car performs, the car in service date is 4/30/2006 and it is licensed as a 2005, very rare.

Most likely the reson for this is because the transmission cooler is inbuilt into the driverside radiator side tank. If the heat exchanger goes bad and developes a leak you will have this problem.

I was looking at getting an E55 AMG but decided on my STR cause I would of probably only found an 03 E55 in my price range and thats a huge problem with them. In the E's case it was due to a crappy designed radiator from the factory and it destroyed alot of trans. One of the reasons I went with the STR. Looks like I'll have to pay attention and hope all is well with mine. I'll have to try and find out the company that made the bad batch of radiators in them maybe they made some for Jaguar.
