Default S-Type STR Low Level Radio Static

The radio in my wife's '07 STR has always been someone static at lower levels but sounds good at higher levels. I've checked connections at trunk as best as possible with no answers. Anyone experienced this? I'd replace the radio but because of integration, this isn't feasible for me.

Run a good fresh earth to the stereo and install a suppressor on both permanent and ignition lives.

Thank you for that. I'm assuming good ground to the head unit and not trunk amp?

It's odd that it's worse at low volume levels.

Could you be getting feedback from the alternator? That's usually more of a whine, not static, but who knows. Easy enough to rule out. Compare the audio with the engine on and off, and listen for any difference.

No, it's not spark-related noise. More accurately, it sounds like a fried tweeter or bad signal - very scritchy, were that actually a word

Maybe the audio system is fine, but the problem is that new-fangled noise you whipper snappers call music these days...

Are you sure it isn’t a faulty speaker? Have you tried unplugging each speaker in turn to see if it is a faulty speaker?
And yes a good earth and suppression to amp AND head unit is a good idea.
