Default S-Type transmission filling

I just changed my transmission fluid in my 2006 S Type. What a difference, it is like a new car again. Someone before me must have had the problem of removing, or trying to remove, the filler plug. The hex socket is almost stripped out. Anyone know where to get a new plug? Lots of drain plugs for sale but no fill plug.

And Most transmition Specalists , and possably even ZF them selves .

Klaus at thectsc.com also had them available for sale a few years ago and I assume that he still does....

Now, tell me about your 1973 Jensen Healey. And where in North Carolina are you?

Hi Jon89: Yes they still have them. One is on its way to me now. I live in New Bern and bought two rough Jensen Healeys in 2009 in order to make one good one. The result is a fun top down drive. It has the original Lotus 907 engine with Pertronix ignition and MSD coil. It is not the original color. Someone sprayed it Toyota purple back in the 90s. It is eye catching and I quite like it now that I am used to it. I do take it to local AACA meets, but it is not showroom, just a fun hobby for me.

In late 1974 when deciding on my very first brand-new car I narrowed my choices down to either a Datsun 260Z or a Jensen Healey. I opted for the Z-car and never regretted it, keeping it until I finally sold it to a colleague's son in the summer of 1987. But I still appreciate the lovely lines of the Jensen Healey....

Ya, let's see a '74 Z-Car or a Jenson Healey... One would destroy its engine when the timing belt broke or the other would eventually rust away. The '70s were not a good time for auto engineering.

But you made the right choice with the Z! At least that one would run and run and run and if you kept it clean and attended to the first signs of rust it would just keep on keep'n on.

My J-H has always been in the southern states, but even so it has a few rust issues that I need to deal with this winter when it is off the road. I just never take it out when rain is likely. Mixing two cars gave me tons of spares to play with.

>My J-H has always been in the southern states,

Ya, but I was really referring to the Z-Car as being rust prone. Back in the day they all seemed rust away (at least in the north-east where I live), starting at the bottoms of the doors and spreading from there.

But, it was the exposed timing belt on the Lotus motor in the JH and the motor being an "interference" type that posed the challenge there... =:-0
