Saggy Trunks
The floorboard in my 2006 trunk (the part you lift up to get to the spare and the battery) barely reaches the plastic support lip at the rear of the trunk. Actually the felt carpet reaches but not the hardboard under it.
So any objects placed in the trunk having any weight at all sag the floorboard and cause it to snap below the lip. Popping it back out and up is rapidly removing the black felt from the edge of the hardboard.
My dealer (who is generally excellent) tells me "They're all like that."
Are they? What's your experience?

Sounds like BS to me. My floorboard is fine. I have a 2003 S-type.
He is trying to get out of supporting the bumper to bumper warranty. Get another opinion. Change that floorboard.
I can see how it might if it was loaded with stuff, but seriously, how often does that happen?

You're under the factory warranty and there is no excuse for the behavior that your dealer is showing you. Demand that they fix your problem under warranty and if they still refuse, call Jaguar Corporate (800-4-JAGUAR) and report that you're not getting the warranty coverage you deserve.
No, they're not all like this. Our 2005 S-Type's trunk floorboard is perfectly fine, and it supports some relatively heavy luggage on a regular basis as my wife drives back and forth to visit her parents in Florida....

Mine fits fine as well. Looks like you have that classic case of "bad dealer". I put my car through the daily tourture normally reserved for the family mini-van. Weekly trips to the "wholesale club" for two tons of groceries, etc. and the trunk is fine. Tell them to fix the darn thing or show you multiple cars that are alike! Heck, I didn't like the play in the driver's seat frame until my service manager grabbed the keys to three used S types I picked out to test and they were all the same. After that, he still entered the complaint as pending so if it ever got worse, the warranty would cover it.

I have closure. After a second polite discussion, the dealer replaced my trunk floor under warranty.
The dealer didn't have any more S-Types to look at but I found some - all with solid trunks. My favorite was the guy who is building a house and is using a very nice S-Type as a sort of elegant pickup truck to haul tools and materials. His trunk seems particularly solid!
