Default Simply awful when you don't know. Awfully simple when you do!

My Mom used to always say that to me and thank goodness for the forums.

While on the way to my mechanic to have him check out the source of my low coolant warning I pulled over at a pull out on the highway. I've pulled over here many times however this time there was something different. They are doing major road construction on the highway there and someone decided to cut out a rectangular ditch about 6 feet wide by 4 feet in the driving part of the pull off. As I was leaving and accelerating to highway speed I ran into this (no time to brake fully)..........AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW...literally bending all 4 rims! Luckily the bead was not broken.

Saying all this to say the jolt was so pronounced that my left headlight blew out.

I bought a new one and for the life of me could not figure out how to change it at the parts store. Since I am heavy handed I decided to wait until I got home to do research here because I know I would break something.

Once I read the directions (pictures are missing now) it took me about 10 minutes to change.

Aside from the few that have attitudes because, like me I don't have the same amount of knowledge and experience as them, this community is wealth of invaluable information!!!

So that rectangle cut out caused all that damage? Can't you get money for that from the city or whoever was doing the construction?

The instructions with illustrations are also in chapter 6 of the owner's manual.

I'm going to call my insurance company and see if I can.

I was thinking more 'RTFM' but we don't say that here, at least directly.

Very well put Mikey re....."the illustrations.......manual"

A different, softer and much nicer way of saying "something" that we just don't say here...lol

Just an FYI, I cancelled my claim with my insurance company because I found out I can seek reimbursement from CalTrans for the damage. This way I don't have to pay the $500.00 deductible and I don't have to worry about the claim raising my premiums.
