Speedometer Error

After reading some of these replies as well as some of the linked info, it is obvious why cops don't pull you over for going 5 mph over the limit -- because you're NOT going 5 mph over the limit!

My 2005 S-Type's speedometer is about 1 mph off from my GPS at 60 mph and dead even at 70 mph and above. A bit of a surprise as I thought my going 10 mph over the limit would get me still within the 5 mph grace area.

No, I have the stock wheels and the normal size tires. Just for grins I compared the analog speedometer to the digital option in the ETM and they match up.

Oho! Interesting. That's the closest match I've met. I wonder if the gauge maker (Visteon?) just clips the needle on the stepper motor, does a quick check it reads "close enough" and ships the unit.
