Default Squashed rad fins

Lower half of the rad is really mashed (I'm third owner so no idea why).

Anything anyone's tried that'll straighten them out?

Should I even bother? Thought it might improve the cooling airflow a little. Not that it gets all that hot in Western Canada for extended time.

Thanks for any input.

There is a device that is like a comb that you rake
through the fins to straighten them out.

Don't ask me where to buy one. I just know they
used to exist.

My feeling is to leave it be unless you're seeing it cause some car behaviour that's worrying.

These cars are designed to run hot. Then the fan is put on.

What you could do is get an OBD tool with live data and watch ECT then check it in the workshop manual (free download).

As Plums said.

It is commonly called a "Condensor Comb", and usually industrial air conditioning people have them.

I had one years ago, and have not seen it in 30+ years.

Take care when using them, as damage to the cross tubes (the bits what have coolant inside them) can happen if you are heavy handed.

Ah! Ok, thanks all. Will check this out. Currently have the front open to install a new fog lamp that was smashed.
