Default Stabiliser/anti-roll bar bushes

I changed the anti-roll bar (sway bar/stabiliser bar) bushes last night. A right b*****d of a job to do, thanks to poor design, but worth it because the rattle has now gone

Front/rear?

Terrible that at about 13 years old some work is a bit awkward. Shocking. What were they thinking that they don't last longer or are easier to change every 13 years.

I for one am interested, as I am about to do both ours.

I remember the V12's in XJ-S form, and it was easier and quicker to take the radiator out. Then whenever the engine was out you ALWAYS replaced those "D" rubbers, sooooooo simple.

Maybe nothing has changed.

Oh well, just a bigger bottle of JD, and a longer straw, sounds like a plan to me.

I did the fronts and I used MOOG bushes from Rockauto.

Now I'm not saying that I expect them to last longer than 13 years/120,000 miles - just that access is poor because there is so much stuff around it. On most other vehicles the job is a 30-60 minute task. On this thing it's closer to 3 hours due to the lack of space around that ****ing DCCV and the AC compressor. If the engine bay was just 2 inches longer, many of the access problems on the S-type would disappear.

OK, so It's a job I may never have to do again but other vehicles are not such a ball-ache of a task.

If they'd built the whole car 1 foot longer and 1 foot wider then a lot of things would have room. Or if they'd reduced the cabin size. There are very good reasons why they didn't do those things. Result is to be expected: some jobs will be awkward once in a while.

Life goes on.

If it were 1 foot longer, I could put a V12 in it, DAMN, things are looking up.

Things have always been "tight" on a Jag, but I LIKE the fact that most bolts and nuts are the same size, that is thoughtful.

Both DCCV need changing, soooooo, it sounds like a weekend plan to me. Home brew will be ready in 10 days.

No thanks

On the plus side, the track rod ends (tie rod ends) were a breeze to replace, so it's not all bad. The ARB bushes have quietened down the front end markedly, thankfully.
