Default Stripped screw on thermostat

Trying to replace my thermostat and apparently the bottom screw stripped. What are the options to get it out?

Can you post a cellphone picture? That would help us give you the most useful advice.

2003 STR per JagGirl's member profile page.

I don't know if the V-8 practiced the same affront to common sense as the V-6, selling you a new thermostat complete-in-housing when you needed an upper rad hose because the silly little turret broke, but if so, you should be able to find plenty of low-cost or free t-stat housings by just asking....I think I may have two for the 3.0L lying around the shop somewhere.....

threads stripped or head rounded off? big difference in issue. And Its a metal cross over pipe on the STR SC V8. but the little 8mm bolt heads do tend to round off which is why I use snap on 6 points on them. others tend to open too much and round a frozen bolt since steel and aluminum really tend to like each other much over time and seize
