Default Sudden loss of dashboard illumination

I have suddenly lost all my dashboard illumination on my 2003 S Type R (touchscreen). No lighting for instrument cluster, door switches, or switches on the dash. I have checked and swapped out all the obvious fuses in the passenger compartment fuse box with no change ( ie those marked in the handbook as having any instrument panel function), and tried various positions of the headlight switch, but no difference. Anybody got any ideas - intuitively it should be a simple problem, but I'm not sure where to look next.

I'd check the electrical guide as it's free, part of JTIS. Maybe a relay.

Default Loss of dashboard illumination - now resolved

I looked through previous threads and found one which had the same issue, and simply said that it had been traced to a trapped wire under the centre console. I had had the console out over the weekend to plug in a BTUM, and so thought It was worth a look. With the cubby box removed, I moved the cable to the Aux power supply around, and lo and behold the dash lights came back. So definitely one to watch for - if you have the console cubby box out, ensure that the aux power supply wiring is clear when you replace it! Much relieved to find it and avoid a trip to the garage.

I have the same problem - no lights on any switches.
I have wasted hours looking for the fault with no luck.

Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

It may be something simple as dirty fuse/receptacle contacts - even if the fuse is good. Rough up the contacts a bit and try again. Spray with contact cleaner as well. That fixed my fan problem.

Well I have been looking at mine and after having a good look at the wiring diagrams, I checked the fed which comes from the general control module (this orange wire connects to very switch etc) and I found it dead.
Then I cut the wire and turned the lights back on and there's 12 volts coming from module, joint both ends of the cut wire together and the 12 volt turns off.

So I have a short somewhere on the dimming controlled circuit.

After reading post 3 I checked mine but there's no dimmer controlled wires any where near the bluetooth (unless U.S cars are different to U.K ones).

I'd still have a play with the wires under the cubby box - there's lots of them and they would appear to be susceptible to getting trapped and shorting to earth
