Would appreciate anyone’s help w/ this. My 2006 S-type sunroof opens very smoothly. When I go to close it, sunroof moves fwd about half-way then abruptly reversed into full open position.

Sunroof tracks are clear w/o any obstruction. Motor sounds nice & smooth at all times.

Sunroof reset procedure from forum worked briefly.

Sounds like some parts need lubrication?

You will need to grab the front of the sliding roof and 'help-it' close to get past the 'anti-trap' feature until the resistance in the track assy is found and repaired.

 

Everything sounds nice & smooth; sunroof slides effortlessly fore & aft until about the midway point. Am thinking that it must be "sensing" something because reversal is abrupt followed by smooth slide back to full open. Rested my hand on glass when it was closing & reversal was so "hard" that I wouldn't dare forcing it past that point for fear of breaking something & making matters worse.

Do you know whether sensor module can be replaced independently or is module part of sunroof motor such that replacing motor is only way to replace module?

 

Remove the glass and check the rails.
i had to fix my rail with metallic wire to hold them together. One of the rails was missplaced so i remove the motor roo so i can pull the rail cables in the right position. The i put the motor back to engage in the gearing, i tested it and i rescrewd the window back.
still working well

 

What if rails are are OK & not misplaced in any way?
