T6 5w40 in the 4.2 n/a S is a fail, noticed immediate increase in engine noise and the development of what I feared most, ticking. Lesson learned, I wonder if wally world will accept the return maybe possible exchange ?? Hmmm one way to find out..

I think you're heading down the wrong path by blaming the oil for unusual engine noises.

Most ticking sounds are actually the fuel injectors.

Mikey I will have to agree with you, searching ignition knock/ detonation seems to be the issue. How should i go about diagnosing and fixing this problem ?

 

What problem do you have specifically? Lots of details please. These cars are not known for experiencing detonation that's audible to the driver.

 

I would bet Wal Mart takes it back.

To report back regarding the return, I went to return the oil and the manager remembered my call from yesterday but explained that i would have to take it back to the walmart i purchased it from, Ill call them tomorrow before heading to work and see if i can swing by and return it, I am no longer optimistic regarding the return

You misunderstand.

The cost of returns, (justified and otherwise as in this case) theft, waste etc. is not absorbed by either the store or it's employees. It gets passed along to future customers in the form of higher prices.

There's nothing 'defective' with this oil. You expected it do something that it cannot but in the interim have rendered the product unusable for anyone else. This is not unlike the slimy habit of buying a power tool and using it for a week or two then returning it when the job is finished.

Sorry to come off like a schoolmaster but this is a pet peeve. For the lousy $17 or so you paid, I'd stop wasting fuel driving around.

 

A little offensive also Mikey, my intentions are free of any theft or exploitation. The price was 22.99 and had a mail in rebate which is still attached, I merely returned a product I was dissatisfied with, in addition my concerns regarding my engine and its longevity are well justified....

I don't have a problem paying for what I am going to utilize, I used approximately 43.7ish miles, 6,000 mile intervals ?? Do the math, total it up and I'll mail what I owe you...

I'd be agitated if I were to purchase the 43.7ish mile motor oil assuming it was new and not used.


Especially when I had thought that I was prepared to do an oil change. Have the vehicle on jack stands, drained oil, changed filter then go to fill it up with opened "new" oil containers. I will not say on this forum what I would be calling the SOB that returned the frickin' 43.7ish mile motor oil!

 

They would not place the oil back on the shelf, the seals are broken and its obviously been tampered with. If someone buys this on discount, which they wont because it wont be sold, I helped someone save a few bucks... in all honesty I'm a satisfied customer. I have mobiI one extended performance 5w30 in it now, feels much better
