Tell Tales?
All-
I've been seriously contemplating replacing the dreaded coolant hose under the supercharger in this vehicle. I went ahead and prepped for it this afternoon by pulling the cowl, cross brace and cabin air filter housing.
What worries me is I can tell i'm not the first one in there. Witness marks on the bolt heads..Two screws missing from the cowl. (Plastic covers were all present). Two cabin air filter nuts were hand tight. Wiring harnesses not secured in the proper mounts etc. If you've wrenched very much you get the idea.
Is there a way to now if someone has replaced the coolant hose in the past? I don't mind going full throttle into this because I'm chasing a pesky vacuum leak anyway. I can see with my scope that the brake booster vacuum line is the original press fit style so I'm heading there first.
I would appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks

Hmmmm....tough decision....a previous egr or throttle body issue would show the same....when i was inspecting mine all i could see was the curve up to the throttle body.... unfortunately that hose almost always fails at the front engine connection where the large end is...that is how i found my elbow hose leak, looking for the big end of the valley hose...there is a small hose attached to the thermostat manifold, but i do not think that is the valley hose....i may be wrong, but if it is, mine is in great shape....in the workshop manual there is a coolant hose diagram that may be of help....wish i could tell you more...that is a pretty big project ...good luck

Don't know about the harness brackets, but could that have been the aftermath of a different task than replacing the coolant hose?
The other two observations could have been from something as simple as changing the cabin air filter.
Are you replacing the hose due to a suspected leak? Or just as a precaution?

Witness marks? That would point towards a pro.

As far as the coolant hose is concerned...NBCat had asked me if the hose in question had been replaced. I have no clue hence the thread. Having read some of the previous posts about the consequences I figued better safe than sorry.
Is it possible that a previous member of this forum owned this vehicle in the past? Maybe a lurker? Headlights already had "Brutal screws". Cowl had been removed etc?
I added the last 8 of the VIN to my sig to see if that is a possibility.
Thanks to all.
We have now reached the limits of my knowledge of the dreaded SC coolant hose issue.
Oh No! Don't leave me Karl. I'm gonna need some of your knowledge if I take on this endeavor.
ha . It’s interesting, that the aviation Industry uses the same terminology For tempering marks as engineering Uses for extremely unimpressive welding.

I hope you know I'm joking Karl. I can see you don't have an STR but I appreciate everything you bring to this forum.
lots of things could have happened to your jag. When looking at mine I found a red bumper painted black under the bumper cover. And when I looked at my AC issue I found my climate control module already had been repaired with resetable fuses so ya, people do stuff

Jag Dealer did a throttle body replacement in 2009.
With the missing screws and loose bolts...I t doesn't matter if you work at one of my stores..Ford/Nissan/Dodge/Hyundai/Kia/Gm sometimes Techs just miss things.
