Ok, I removed the fuel filter and attempted to start the car. Gas just dribbled out. Put new filter in. I am sure it is the fuel pump. I double checked by spraying starter fluid spray into the air intake and the car did start up but briefly. So I know the car engine is getting spark. Considering I am not hearing anything from the exposed fuel pump, my guess is that is the culprit. I will begin searching for a decent name brand and price online and once installed post the outcome. I realize there was more professional means of troubleshooting the car but considering I am four and a half hours away from home I had to be inventive.

Would someone recommend a decent aftermarket brand fuel pump and location to buy it. I do not wish to put in a autozone brand but do not think I can afford the part directly from Jaguar.

 

Toybreaker said he used a Ford pump #3M5U-9350 in his 2004 earlier this week.

Maybe you can get yours out first and compare them.

 

Was not the fuel pump. Installed brand new fuel pump and still no start up. In fact, when I turn the key to second position I still can not hear the fuel pump. I checked all fuses again ...no luck. Even if I had a multimeter I don't think I know how to check relays.
Very discouraged. Wife was driving the car with no problems and stopped in a store. Came out and the car would not start.

Question... had to feed two lines from the new pump over to the second pump on driver side using a wire coat hanger. The lines submerged in the gasoline as I was feeding it to the second driver side pump. Was that OK or did I screw something up? I would think not considering that they are fuel lines but wanted to hear it from somebody else

 

Yes you have a Schrader valve.

It's number 5. Your fuel pressure sensor is number 4 on the right side.




Again do you have any pressure at the Schrader valve and how much?

I would not risk such things with coat hangar. Small spark/short, and BOOM. No car or you. Please get someone else to fix it.

 

I had to leave the car and return to work 4 hours south. I will answer your question in about three weeks when I return to the car.

 

No worries, I was able to change out the fuel pump successfully.
