Timing chain repair
Well I have got the jag back together fully today and was ready for the first fire. I double triple checked every single nut and bolt electrical connection and hose. All are perfect how they should be. I started her up and after a few secs of cranking she was alive and sou ded good! No misfire any more and was running around 20 to 30 secs before I started to hear a weird clank noise I shut the car right off. And thought it may have been the power steering pump. Checked the fluid and fired it back up. Same thing within 10 secs the car clank. Then clank and I gave it a small little touch of the gas and now it's sounding like the timing chains are hitting some. I am so freaking mad and lost at the same time. I made sure they were tight when I installed the cover and made sure they were tightend the right way. Does anyone know why this would happen or possibly know what it could have been? I'm so lost right now and exhausted from working on her. What would cause this noise other than the chains? And if it's them why would this happen.
Any thoughts please

Can you go over ALL the parts you replaced? Did you replace everything? Chains, secondary and primary along with both sets of tensioners? Since you did have a chain break is there a chance some part of that is causing this? Are you SURE that when that chain broke that no valves contacted the pistons? How did you determine that? Maybe use a borescope and look thru the spark plug holes for damages?
Just in case I would remove all belts and start the engine just to verify the noise is from inside the engine and NOT related to anything external or belt driven.
But it sounds like your going to have to open the engine up again and just reinspect everything with a fine toothed comb.

So I completely took the ac and ps back off fixed the mou t and put all back on. And BOOOM! she's running. I have 20 miles on her as I type this. I'm picking my daughter up at school she will be so happy as she loves the Jag as she calls it. She's 8 by the way. But man what a last few weeks.

I do need to know what type of coolant to use.. like from a auto parts store.. I do know it's orange and I'd like to keep it that way. I have just water in right now to make sure I have no leaks.
I'll also be dropping the oil pan in about a week with another oil change and make sure I dont have any floaters in there.
I will be doing a trans fluid flush as well. I use amsoil is it OK in theses trans to use? Any one used with issues?
And for everyone that helpped me along the way I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys saved me big time from banging my head on the wall. I much appreciate you guys the info you gave and the booklets I download are so awesome. I truly can not Thank you enough.
Thanks again
Jaguar Joe.
P.s. that's what my neighbor calls me now lol

Lol right.
I also have 2 22 inch magnaflow 4 inch round resonators and 2 magnaflow 5x8 mufflers that will be going on. That's instead of me adding the straight pipe for the center two.
I hope she sounds like I want. Nice and purrrrr quiet until she gets a little throtle under her then a little rubble.

Well done, that is a pretty major lot of work you've completed. Got to admire a non-pro willing to get stuck right in and see it through. Respect! I'll bet with the new pipes on she'll growl like a wildcat... A jaguar even.
Thanks guys. It was definitely a big job. And I learned a ton doing so. I am the mechanic in the family when it comes to fixing everyone's cars. This is the biggest job I have tackled and would you beleive the most pai. In the butt part was pulling that dang fan assembly out. Lord I do t ever wanna do that again!!.
