Default Tow Hook Cover

When I dropped off my STR at the body shop a few weeks ago I noticed, as I pulled away, that my rear tow hook cover was missing. No big deal, good timing, picked up another from the dealer ($27) and dropped it off to be painted. Picked up the car days later and all is good.

Saturday I ran it through a quickie wash to knock off the Texas dust and ash (high winds, many fires) and stopped by CVS. Walking out I notice it's gone again.. F&$@*!!!... drive over to the wash to see if it got blasted off... nope, drove my route...nada. Grrrrrrrr No telling when/where it came off.

Anyone else have issues with this? I'll go buy another but you can bet I'm gonna have a good look at how this mounts up and see if there is an issue.

Any alternatives?

Maybe put a touch of glue on it?

I'm thinking about plastiwelding the damn thing on next time.... or at least some epoxy. Either way, I can get it off if I need to.

3M tape? That way it can be removed if needed.

$27?? That cost $50 at the dealership here in Orlando, I had to get mine at the junk yard which was free, but still have to paint it. I might use some zip ties to hold them intact.

It just ruins the rear lines of the car without the cover... a square 'hole' in the bumper cover and then what looks like a .50 cal barrel pointing at you...which makes me think....

I wonder if one could use a back up camera and align it properly with a rear mounted belt fed weapon...

...would cure tailgaters for sure.

I just purchased a 2005 Jaguar XK8 convertible. The rear bumper passenger side is missing the tow hook cover. Anyone know where I can get one? How much will this set me back?

Asking in the right forum might work. This is for S-Types. Try the dealer or any online jag parts supplier.

I have only seen the tow hook cover in black plastic?

Does anyone have a painted version? I thought all the bumpers were black in that area?

Thanks! The Dealer indicated they are no longer available? Do you know of reputable XK8 parts suppliers?

that my rear tow hook cover was missing.
That's better than having your mechanic use the tow hook and snapping it off in the front frame because they didn't know which way to unscrew it..... yea this happened.

How about permanently towing a caravan, then you won't need a cover
