Default Trunk wont pop up on its own anymore..... Common??

hey guys, my trunk release will only pop up once in a while on its own. I notice that when I pop it more often, that it will release up on its own, but if it has been a couple days then it seems like it gets stuck and I have to force it up.... any ideas? is this common?

Mine does the same. It seems like I have to clean it and put some lotion on it to keep the trunk rubber seal soft and non sticky. Otherwise, it does this. That's what Iv'e seemed to notice.

Ditto here. Seems to be a common problem. I believe the compression of the seal is the main force that pops the lid open when the latch is actuated. I replaced the seal last year due to a leak, and then for a few months the trunk popped open reliably every time. Now that the new seal has taken a set, the release operation is back to hit or miss.

Mine does that too. Just needs a little lift to "help" it up about a third of the time, I should say. It needs a little wallop to close it properly too, but nothing too annoying - I'm used to it.

I'm glad mine doesn't do that all the time. I really hate how the trunk flies open.

If it opens too fast I expect you could reposition the springs.

I looked at my 2005 STR and its springs damped by a strut. Maybe that was a option?

there are three holes to hook the spring too. Mine is hooked in the hole closest to the rear of the car. Once I figure out how to SAFELY move the spring I will try the other 2 holes to see how they work
