Question unknown "beep"

it's hard to explain, but on 3 occasions now my car has made a strange "beep" when i have been driving, it is not the same beep as when pushing a button for the temp control or rear window demister, it is lower in tone and a fraction of a second long. both my wife and father have heard this beep, and we are all positive it is electrinic and not a "squeek". It is similar to the lights on door open beep (it miight even be the same but cos it has only happened 3 times not sure".

Any Ideas ?

Thanks

There i thought it was only a Lincoln thing.

Lincoln LSs are know for those infamous beeps. My car will do it if the signal lever is on for a long period of time. And, by long, i mean 45 seconds.

I am not sure if you experienced the same thing, but i hope this helps.

Is your boot/trunk nice and dry under the floor in the area of the battery and spare?

Driving in traffic and someone gets too close, the parking sensor will beep; especially if you are crawling in traffic and someone gets too close or you get too close...

Do you mean the front sensors (which most don't have)? The rears should not be active unless in Reverse and so they should not cause any noises (and mine don't).

I tried doing some research on it, but couldn't find exactly when the reminder for the signals come on. It supposedly kicks on when the signal flashes more than 45 times (or 60, couldn't find an exact number). Which would equal to half of mile of driving with the turn signal on - something along those lines.

(I will say from my personal experience, 4 times out of 5, i will get the reminder beep, on long off-ramps. And, it took my a year to figure out that it was the blinker causing the beep)

Also, you will hear the mystery beep due to a momentary loss of communication between the computer and transmission.

Watch your instruments closely while turning the ignition on. See if the AirBag warning lamp comes on. If there is something wrong with that circuit or the bulb is burned out, the Restraints Module beeps now and then to draw attention since the bulb can't alert you.

Sometimes an EBrake fault can cause a beep as well if the fault goes on long enough.

Just a couple thoughts..........
