Default Upper Control Arms

I took my car in for an AC issue (my compressor is leaking) anyway they tell me I need ball joint and upper control arms. I was quoted $2,365.00 . I feel it is extremely high. I did some research and found a set for $520.00 for parts. Does anyone know the labor hours for this job?

Thank You

Doing upper control arms should be only an hour per side. Maybe another hour for the lowers (since you have most of it torn apart anyways). Then you have another say $100 for an alignment following the work. So, 4 hours of work, an alignment, and the parts, you should be able to get out the door for around $1K.

If you have a 2000 S type the Lincoln LS has the same identical front suspension. So that will give you another option for parts. In 2003 Jaguar made significant changes and were different from the LS.

The mechanic said the AC is not working and needs a compressor and wants 350 for it?

The mechanic said the lower ball joint is $350 and told me you have to change the entire part not just replace the single part that is $35.00. He also mentioned that when changing the lowers you have to change the uppers?

That's BS.

I ended up going through a completely different mechanic, he did lowers, and new struts (i have active control) for $1300 parts & labor. The improvement is amazing.
