Guys,

I purchased a upper defroster panel on eBay on Friday (I've been looking for a replacement for my cracked one) - driving yesterday morning I noticed the part I purchased only had the PATS light & no solar sensor.

I'm presuming this part was removed from a 03+MY S Type (I already know many 03+MY parts are not a direct fit on the 2000MY) I walked by a 04MY S Type last night and the part was identical to the one in the auction.

I looked up the part in the 2000 - 2005 Parts Catalog and the part through 2005 is showing as XR8015637LEG

I don't care about the absence of the solar sensor (mine doesn't work anyway) but I had the seller send me a picture of the harness connector to the PATS light. Yes 6 pins but the connector is clearly different.

Wondering if anyone knows if the harness will hook up to the pillar harness or should I just ask for my money back now. (as the seller listed the part as fitting the 2000MY)

Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks

 

As a workaround, would you be able to possibly remove the connector from the new panel, then splice your old one in its place, same as you might if you were hooking up a new stereo? Of course you'd need to be sure you've got the right wires spliced together. Just a thought.
