Default V1 in rearview mirror?

Has anyone ever done this on a late model Jag? I'd love to have my V1 installed in the mirror because of the ridiculous design by Jag where the only cig lighter in the car is in the center console. And the fuse always blows rendering it useless. The entire reason I got caught doing 150mph in the first place was due to the fact that the cig lighter fuse burned out and I didn't realize my V1 wasn't on!

There is a cig lighter right in front of the shifter as well. That is where I have my v1 plugged into.

What is this V1 you speak of? Aren't Jag saloons equipped with a cloaking device? LOL With all the ricers, bikers, and high dollar exotics rolling around down here, my Jag hardly gets a second look.

I have the satellite radio reciever in my car so that outlet is gone. As much as I love the Sirius, sometimes I'd rather have the outlet.

I don't care how much it costs, I just want to know if anyone has done it. A lot of BMW's, Mercedes and just about any other car has had this done so I don't see why not esp since the mirror is powered.

It's hard to see it blowing a cig lighter fuse if properly working! Faulty wiring?

Hard wire it to the car, problem solved. I have a Passport 8500 in my SRT8 and its powered to the power source in the rear view mirror.

Yes it's been done before and is way expensive!!

Please see my detailed thread on the install. It's a bit expensive!

But it looks really cool!!

You can hardwire the detector to the overhead homelink unit as demonstrated in the following link: V1 Install in 07 XK

The detector is still present, but the power is drawn from above, getting rid of unsightly cords.

Mine nearly got taken in VA two years ago. My wife got pulled over because they detected it. The officer took it felt that it was warm, I guess so he knows I'm not slippin' him an old one, wrote won the model and serial number then gave it back. She wasn't speeding at the time.

So what would they do when it's a built in? Hmmm.
