Default Valve Cover Specs

Changing the valve cover gaskets on my (or should I say my wife's) 2003 S type V6 3.0 liter. Can anyone give me the torque specs and tightening sequence. Any other tips is appreciated also. Thanks in advance. You guys are saving me lots of money not having to go to the dealer. FYI, I'm doing this while changing spark plugs. Figured while I have that nasty plenum off, I'd go ahead and knock this out too.

JTIS would be great, but I have never been able to use it on 8.1windows. I wish it came in a PDF.

Really? That's great. Can you coach me up on how to do it or where to look? That would be so appreciated. My model is a 2000 with 4.0 if that matters to get it.

Be sure to use the genuine Jaguar cam cover gasket and spark plug boss seal as in my experience the aftermarket parts fail after a short time.

When installing the spark plugs, place a small amount of anti-seize compound on the threads.

While the inlet manifold is off, inspect the various vacuum lines and other parts for cracking.

I believe NGK say not to use anti-seize (as the plugs have a suitable coating already).

I do not use NGK plugs as I have had several insulator failures with them.

Of the OE ones used in the S-Type 4.0 and/or 4.2?

Yes, broken or cracked insulators around the centre electrode not caused by impact or improper installation.

Weird. Haven't seen other posts to that effect so don't know why you see it. Others consistently say that at 100K miles they look good to keep using (as mine were). Must be where you live or something!

Jag V8,

I did a search and "Unlimited Books" has JTIS in pdf. they say it is free, but want a CC on file. They didn't have the right one. On to ebay. Bought a factory repair manual for 14.95. I hope it is the right one. 546 or so pages in pdf.

Update: Got the manual from ebay. Downloaded and unzipped it. It covers several years and 5069 pages. I think it will take me along way so far. It was definitely worth the $15.

I must correct the information about the pdf repair manual. It was 14.95 and consists of 5096 pages. It has TONS of stuff in it. I have been reading parts of it. Seems very thorough. It was listed on ebay as "1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 JAGUAR S TYPE S-TYPE FACTORY OEM SERVICE REPAIR MANUAL"
