Only Shell V-Power premium, 91 octane.

It's the highest grade available at Shell...

Running two Jag Type 2s on 87 or 91 depending on whether plan drive in city or long trips. When on long trips we use the highest octane available if it has more than 10 percent Ethonal, the real mileage robber thanks to the other robber, Bob Dole(drums).

You should actually use low octane for steady cruising and higher(er) octane for city driving. The presence of ethanol should not affect your choice of octane rating.

As at 08 August 2017 my local Surfers Paradise [QLD] Seven-11 station has the following: E10=107.3/ U91=109.3/ U95=120.3/U98=125.3[CPL] I'm going to fillup with U95 today.
My question though is, would Josephine [2005 S type 3.0L 6Sp.auto] run happily on 91 which i note many of you in Europe use?

No S-type outside of North America is rated to run on 91AKI fuel. What scale are your ratings in? OZ normally uses the RON scale like most of the world.

Yes, Remiss of me to not indicate that Australia uses RON [Research Octane Number] the most common type of octane rating worldwide. Again then, can my 'S' use RON91?
NB: Octane rating [number] is a standard measure of the performance of an engine. The higher the octane number, the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating [igniting]. Fuels with a higher octane rating are used in high performance petrol engines requiring higher compression ratios. Lower octane fuels are ideal for diesel [compression-ignition] engines which don't compress the fuel, but rather compress air then inject fuel into it.

91RON is not suitable. 95 is the min spec.

Use 91 if you like as it's your car.

I remember reading the STR does need a min of 95 according to the handbook.

Now suck it up and don't be cheap you drive a Jagggggg.... feed the kittie the good stuff
I am with you, my exact sentiment and as someone else pointed out, at 15 cents a gallon more it might cost another $2.50 per fill up, about the same price you might pay for a cup of coffee these days.

Price differential is the least important factor in choosing fuel or oil etc. To dismiss this justifies boiling pasta in Perrier or Naive water.

Nice for you that it's only 15 cents a gallon difference where you are, most of the world pays far more than that, maybe up to a dollar/usg.

I was using someone else's 15 cent difference but when I gassed up yesterday it is actually about double that here in Oregon. $2.47 for regular and $2.77 for premium at Costco. If it were as much as $1.00 higher I would be singing a different tune too.
