Its resting on top of the rad,2 wires going in ,none coming out ,what is it and where does it go, could it cause a misfire from time to time ,i cannot get fault codes ,is it ok to drive the car with the OBD2 connected? as the engine check light goes out when it stops missing and i cannot get my scan tool to tell me which cylinder is missing , i bet its bank 1 and i did that 2 years ago .. £750 i have given up, drive away with a longish MOT and loads of new parts fitted last week.

That is an unused connector for cars fitted with the 4.0 litre engine for the auxiliary coolant pump. Its usually part of the harness attached to the radiator fan shroud.

For reading DTCs, use a smart phone with the Torque app to access the PCM via the OBD port by Bluetooth.

Under no circumstances is the vehicle to be operated under conditions that cause the MIL to flash as catalyst damage is occurring.

Find and correct the misfire(s) or DTC P0420 and P0430 are the result and you will need to replace one or both catalysts to pass MoT.

Its not flashing ,it just comes on during a load and misfiring ,i cant understand why my OBD says there is no misfire on a particular cylinder, while scrolling through i got "not ready" on H025, CAT not ready and Evap not ready ..could this be an air leak? I used Torque and Bluetooth and still had no spark code appear ,as these plugs were changed 2 years ago along with the seals i suspect a coil on the wrong bank so i want to be 100% sure which plug is misfiring ,,,,Si

Check the STFTs and LTFTs to determine which bank has the misfire(s). If there are coil units that are fouled by oil due to failed spark plug boss seals, there may not be a DTC set for a misfire.

With unready (unset) monitors it probably cannot flag all manner of codes. This is a well-known issue and why one should never clear codes without knowing what you're doing & why.
