Default Whats the latest Nav CD disk I can use for '06 STR

My nav has the same original Nav disk that came with the car. Is there an updated disk available that might have some of the newer streets on it?

Are there files that can be downloaded and used?

No downloads to my knowledge....the latest disc update is 2011 to 2012....it is a denso dvd ...i got it and it is better.....google jaguar nav disc....a website will come up specializing in nav discs ...or maybe eBay or Amazon.....make sure it is genuine jaguar/denso or it can brick your system....website, jaguarnavigation.com
Or this...https://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-Jaguar-navigation-disc-case-/273799362801?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10

It's pretty arcane at this point in time though. For the USA you have to first pick/guess the region of the country you're in or it won't find very much.
I've stopped using it for the most part as it's a 15+ year old design.

I use my phone though I'm not a fan of Waze because it sucks my phone's battery dead and has overheated it several times.

The ones in the newer cars are just so much better.

But ... on our recent two week trip over Christmas to Arizona we just got fed up will all the GPS units, both phones and a 2019 Ford Edge, then resorted to MAPS! LOL It's just so much easier to see everything at a glance on a paper map. Then you can look stuff up if you need to. Working the phone and GPS in the car also robs a lot of time and detracts from the beauty of just looking out the window and enjoying the drive.

I agree Bob....i got the disc on sale for 49 dollars, just because.....i rarely use it, but hate the phone apps.....it helps mostly because of being tied into their jaguar voice and easier to see.....usually use it locally or when going to a new golf course ...i have a few AAA maps in the car myself

The connectivity in these cars is probably the only disappointment I have so far.

Working at a car dealership in a Managers/Director position since 1999 I have always had a Demo. I've seen the technology grow in that respect. We have even had to prove that commercial vehicles have Bluetooth connectivity before they could get their DOT.

The Jaguar brand is so proprietary in their systems it was not designed to be future proof.

The Genesis G70 I'm driving now brags of it's adaptive cruise control and yet the 2003 STR in my garage had it 17 years ago.

Have a look at the below for the USA. I managed to update a disc for mine for Australia and am just trying again now for for a more recent version. Not sure about the USA but here in Australia the Toyota/Lexus discs are the same and work in the Jaguar player. Also more posts in the Toyota/Lexus part of that forum rather than the Jaguar part of the Forum.

A few years back I was at a Jag club breakfast before a local concours show and a new member drove up in an identical STR to mine, same year 2005, same colors. But his had the adaptive cruise control on it and I had always wanted that. But he said it didn't work very well??? So I gave up trying to add it in from a junkyard car. I don't even know if that's possible?

I do know that all of these systems, on the big semis too, drive my Valentine Radar detector absolutely nuts!

Does it update how the software works at all? That's one of the biggest issues. It's quite user unfriendly IMHO.

Some of the car service drivers in the NYC metro area have a seperate tablet running something??? But I'm not sure I want that hanging around my dash all the time.

I got along just fine with maps for 50 years ... Googlemaps previous generation maps was pretty damn good at planning drives too. I planned entire vacation drives that way. It really was a terrific application but they abandoned it.

The entertainment stuff was actually done by the same folks who did Audi's stuff at the time. Jaguar never authorized anyone else to work with it.
