Default What's a realistic price for this STR?

Saw this ad:

Cars for Sale: 2006 Jaguar S-TYPE R in Fayetteville, NC 28314: Sedan Details - 340000795 - AutoTrader.com

Asking way too much, but only 11,500 miles! What's the highest price that would tempt you?

About half that. Maybe $18k for that car if it were "the one" but that's not "the one" for me.

Very low millage on that one. However i think its a bit too high. 25k, maybe 26k would be doable. 30k on an 2006 car is a bit much in my opinion.

STR carries a high premium. And yes I would love to own one! However, I recently bought a 2006 V6 with 38K miles for under $10K. Not the same thing, but keep in mind it's an 8 year old car.

I'd pass. Don't like low mileage cars. Cars need to be driven.

Believe it or not that's a factory satellite radio install! Pretty cheesy for a Jaguar I think. They did not integrate it at all and it's just stuck on.

You can't give these cars away. I don't think he will sell it.

Really. I didn't know that. It is kind of cheesy. No way he sells that for 30k. Maybe 20k to the right person, depends on the shape its in, even with low mileage.

The same car with 50k miles would be worth what, $15k? Is it worth paying double the price to save 40k miles? No chance. $3-5k I could see, not double though.

The issue is, who looks for STRs? I would think that maybe 13-14k max

He has had this car up for some time. Here is what KBB gives as a price for a car in excellent condition and I put in 10,000 miles.

Kelley Blue Book

KBB is a good check.. but these days in the used car market, I doubt if 10% of cars listed are selling at blue book. I used to rely on KBB maybe 5 years ago, then ZIRP ruined the used car market and most KBB checks seem lower to me compared to what actually cars go for.

My guess is $20-21K could be a fair price, the low miles should matter. But if the seller is asking $30K, doubt you'd ever close the gap on it, the asking price is unreasonable. So you wait it out... sellers get tired eventually. Not like any car is getting younger sitting there.

I'm afraid that soon my wife's 1998 XK8 will book higher than my 2005 STR.
