Default What's a VIS

The memsahib had some work done on the car back in January, (I'm in SC)
they mentioned that they had repaired the VIS wiring and it looked like a previous repair that failed.
Yesterday she got an engine light, had the codes checked and it was P1549
bottom IMT valve circuit.
I repaired broken wires to the bottom IMT valve back in 2013 so now I'm trying to figure out if these are the same problems.
Any ideas?

Variable induction system maybe?

First thing I would do is call and talk to the shop that did the work. Their explanation may save you some guessing when attempting to figure out where to go from here....

Good luck and keep us posted....

I've met VIS as variable intake system and yes I'd say the IMT stuff probably counts.

Norri.

Was it a German mechanic. He pointed to the part and said Vis wiring was kaput.

JagV8 is the winner once again!

Pdf page 26 of the document at the link below explains the Variable Intake System of the AJ-V6. If I recall correctly, Ford uses the term Dual-Stage Intake (DSI) on its Duratec versions of the same engine:

Jaguar S-Type Sports Sedan Powertrain Introduction

Cheers,

Don

Vis is the French word for screw, Hope there's none of that going on with your mechanic!

We'll find out, but my repair lasted from 2013 until he fiddled with it seems like his only lasted 2 months. Unless it's something else.

Well they say the wiring was fine and the valve was faulty, they had a used one which
they installed and all is good. It didn't cost an arm and a leg so from 2 thousand miles away I'm as happy as I can be.
