Would it be sacrilege?
If I changed my Jag's "voice" to an American accent? I have never been a fan of the sound of the horn on most modern cars. I know they get the job done. I can remember when I was a young lad, you could tell what kind of car it was from the sound of it's horn.
My last car, 02 Infinity, had a weak horn that sounded like someone yelling "pete". I swapped the stock ones for a set of 4 from an old Buick Roadmaster. Finally got some respect in traffic when needed.
I have a small collection of horns from 1960's era American cars including a nice trumpet from a '65 Cadillac. I am going to pick 3 or 4 of them this week to see what sounds nice and try to fit them to the Jag.
I will probably do an install thread with a video/soundclip.

If you do end up putting an air horn make sure you use a relay and supply a large enough feed for the compressor. Otherwise you might burn out the switch for the horn. Air horns have a bit of inherent delay in them too. I have a couple of cars with both styles of horns and a selection switch - country vs city.
Blaaaap - beep beep.

Thanks guys! These will be standard old school 12V electric horns. Used to be they came with tones that matched musical notes on the scale; A, C, D, F, etc. You have to try a few combinations to get te sound "right".

i'm ashamed to admit i had the dukes of hazzard air horn on my fiesta (U.
K. here) In my defense it was for my little boy who was 6 and loved the show.
the sound here for anyone who doesn't remember it
been tempted to fit it to the jag but finding room for the compressor and all the trumpets has seemed a bit to much trouble

I remember on Jeep Patriot forums the American members used to complain of the Pip Squeak little single tone horns on their Patriots . The UK /Euro/Export model was fitted with a a loud Blarrr!!!twin tone ...some of the retro fitted better horns from older American cars .
I once heard one of the Godfather's themes, from the movie soundtrack, on a modern GTO and thought that I should have THAT as my Jag horn!
This thread has promted me to look into the feasibility of it.....

If your horn sounds weak be sure and check that both of them are working.
I have had 2 horns fail on my S Type and I can't ever remember replacing a horn on any other car??
But I had the same symptoms and one day I had the wife beep the horn and I put my hand on each horn. Had power to both but one just went dead. For once it's pretty easy to change the horns as they are right behind the grille.
