Cambo351, Thanks very much for supplying the details of the S-Type rubber doughnut. My dealer ordered one and compared it to the part on my 2007 XKR and they were identical. Even the model numbers were the same! The part was around £65+vat and with labour that was just over £200, so a lot less than over £1000+fitting for a new drive shaft.

It's pretty poor of Jaguar to not list this as a separate part for the XKR when it clearly exists.

For anyone interested, as Cambo351 identified, the part number for the 'rubber doughnut' or Jurid Coupling is C2C12747. The 2007 XKR uses the same part as the S-type.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. Result!

Just ordered a replacement for my XK. Thanks for posting this information! Absolutely ridiculous that Jaguar only lists this as part of the propshaft assembly. I'll have to check this against one from my Discovery II after I swap it out. It "looks" really close...

I saw a Mercedes S class that had a rubber flex disc fail. All but one bolt ripped out of the coupling. The flinging driveshaft made an oval of the transmission tunnel and set off every airbag in the car.

You have to watch out for the dates of posts and threads, this one is 5-1/2 years old. An apology for resurrecting a thread is usually expected, then any continuation which is relevant is fine and great. Just shows you realize the thread is old.
I'm glad you found the info you needed to fix your problem though.

On a similar topic, I have a 2009 XKR x150 (4.2L), and the centre carrier bearing for the prop shaft has given up. Again, it seems Jaguar only do this as a complete unit, rather than supplying the bearing alone. I was wondering if any of the older model bearings can be used, perhaps from the x100 models. If not, are there any after-market manufacturers out there that might be able to supply it? It seems madness buying an entire prop shaft assembly just for the bloody bearing!

For those googling to find this, it's called a giubo (correct spelling) or guibo, in the US and other countries, after the original Italian company that developed them. Also a flex disk. And of course, the propshaft is googled as a driveshaft in the US.

Glad to hear it was found as a discrete part.

Just to add to this old thread. Searching Spareto.com indicates this jurid is used in a whole bunch of vehicles - even a Ford Transit van. The Febi Bilstein part number is 24250 and available out of Europe for around €50 each plus shipping
