Firstly, what is the age of the battery? A failing or weak battery can cause all types of havoc on these vehicles.

Secondly, unless you have the service history, remove one of the cam covers and inspect the secondary timing chain tensioner to determine if it is the latest metal version. It is my understanding that some of the early AJ-V8s with superchargers had the plastic tensioners, although I have personally never seen that situation.

If the tensioner fails, it can lead to catastrophic engine damage.

no the engine is fine it is electrical the clicking noise is coming from the small speaker not a solenoid when it started it was intermittent then noise stopped steering wheel would move in to position wipers indicators would all start working and the engine would start now it is constant

I think the first thing I'd try would be punctuation.

And do a hard battery reset. See thread down a few that ends, door locks PLEASE.

If that doesn't work, look in your Drivers Handbook for how to get the shift lever out of park. A copy can be downloaded from one of the Stickies or Google it, there is a You tube.

Without punctuation, your problem is harder to understand than John Milton Keynes' General Theory or his treatise on WW I German reparation.

Let me be uncharacteristically kind, Mr. marcsxjr. These fellows will all give plenty of good advice that will help get your problem solved. All you need to do is get some help constructing sentences and paragraphs describing what is going on!

Me too!

Nice! With your charming personality, I bet you have lots of friends locally who are willing to help you, why bother with us?

To explain the why behind the punctuation request: We are plagued here by folks used to communicating via short text messages with no punctuation, capitalization or paragraph breaks and most of us refuse to read such posts because they are very difficult to comprehend. So you get fewer reads and very few helpful responses with posts like this.

Take a deep breath, calm down and welcome to the friendliest car forum on the web. We are here to help but will not allow abuse or insults to be tossed around by anyone.

I was reading another automotive forum the other day.

A thread participant "texted" a response.

He was duly reminded that:

"Text talk is prohibited on this forum. Please refer to the TOS."

He duly apologized in the next message and life continued on.

Something to consider.

I am among the refuseniks. If I see a wall of text,
I move on as I am under no obligation to decipher
gibberish. That already happens too much in paid
gigs. No point in doing it for free.

I don't usually take issue with members in public but in your case I'll make an exception.

In a short time here, you've failed to follow forum guidelines for newbies and have been rude and offensive to established members who have only been trying to offer help.

Be in no doubt, you do NOT set the standards on this forum. I've given you a 7 day ban to emphasise this. If you choose to return after this period, improve both the method and content of your posts or I will have no hesitation in making it a permanent ban.

Graham

This is an example of a snipe:

So if I understand, you applied a bird to your brain and it now causes you to get the boot from forums for biting the hand that feeds you.

I think we should consider adding this to the rules or TOS, then we have something we can point to and say, no way....otherwise it is just those of us individually saying we are refusing to put up with this gibberish.

Plums kicked it to the top with a post about no text responses as TOS. A great idea IMHO.

Apparently one of the Mods noticed the thread then and the OP got a temporary ban.
