I hope I'm not being lazy but I need to replace a hose that lurks beneath the wiper motor which has some fancy connector one end and has a Jubilee clip onto a metal pipe the other. It might be MNA6722AB but I'm not sure.

Can anyone advise which part I want? The images I see don't really show the part with its complicated connector. It's a 3.2 X300 1994/5

I was lucky to stop before the engine overheated, it dumped an amazing amount of coolant before I found a safe place to stop.

That No. 8 on picture is MNA6722AB -A
It is connected to the valve, is that correct?

The other hose that also goes under the wiper motor is the long one. (No.2)
Different part numbers for LHD and RHD. MNA6724CB for RHD.

No.16 is MNA6728AA

Please double check and maybe add a picture?

 

Thank you. I think it's probably No 16 due to teh odd connector, its position and shape but I'll get a picture.

The blue arrow is the complicated connector, the red line indicates a join in the hose from a previous burst when I should have replaced the hose but was told that was a permanent fix which it was, the hose simply split somewhere else. I hope I have been very lucky as dumped a lot of coolant.

It goes off to a metal pipe going into the head or block. It's all very congested in there being under the wiper motor. The hose does have a bend in it.

Ye I think that is the No.16
On the drawing it also shows an O-ring for that connection, you could replace that in the same time.

I bought the parts but had a seizure at the cost. Still it has to be done and I was passing David Manners a trusted parts supplier in the UK.

 

Ha, that's only the second most expensive hose in the lot, IIRC! It's mate, the octopus-like #2 is a few dollars more, I believe.

 

The octopus is I think 80 pounds, the one I bought with it's O ring was £32 which was a big enough blow.

I ought really drain and replace the coolant but that implies fiddling with the octopus which I would fear might cause it to fail. I regard it as a sleeping dog which I'm not inclined to kick.

If you can forego heat, you can bypass both of those with about 3' of 5/8" standard heater hose....

 

Forego heat in the UK? I think not although I did drive Land Rovers for a few years and that was effectively no heat. Ice on the inside of the windscreen

 

Bugger. When I was unclipping the hose from the fancy connector one of the two legs of one clip broke. It has two clips each having two legs and the clip simply goes under a ridge on the mating hose (the new part) So it's in place and staying in place but dare I hope it will be OK? You can just see what I mean in my picture by the blue arrow.

That hose costs £125 sigh. Now the Jag is looking shaky on economic grounds. I promised myself I wouldn't let it be a money pit.

I shall investigate using a join rather than the silly clip.

 

Hoses deteriorate over a period of time. They eventually break down internally and become soft. It's wise to replace them all because eventually under pressure another leak is sure to occur in a new weak spot.

 

Having found the hose at about £66 I'll buy that. You are correct about the hoses but that would kill this cat on economic grounds, In the UK this only worth about £800, a full set of hoses would cost a decent part of that without increasing its value.

 

The hose doesn't look that well made but it fits and it wasn't too horrible a job so that's good. They do know how to charge for these parts though.
