Footwell lighting. Always felt a bit dark-basement to me. These may need a bit of color gel to warm them up enough for my tastes but they were the only units that had adjustable color temp. Wired to the door circuit.

 

That looks like a really nice improvement!

 

I often considered foot well lights. Never got 'round to it. Nice job

My first contribution to this excellent thread.

I didn't do anything today, but I have been working on the car through the winter.

First thing was an ignition service, where I replaced dizzy cover, rotor, cables, plugs and coil(s).

No need to worry: As I know there isn't much audience to a page in Danish I am using English on the webpage.

I have also been fighting the fuel odeur in boot, and I believe things has improved a lot. I still have the smell of old garage, but not the distinct and sharp petrol smell.
All hoses in boot is replaced as well as the neoprene mat, and the tanks has been out for pressure testing and rust removal on the outside.

Then Saturday I decided it was time to treat the car and myself with a proper drive. First step was to fill the tank, and here things started to go wrong.
After 15 liters I noticed the counter was showing a surpricingly low amount. A few milliseconds later I looked at the fuel filler handle, and it was BLACK. (note: diesel is taxed lower in Denmark for some reason)
Damn. 15 liters of diesel poured on top of the appr. 20 liters of real fuel already in the tank.
After a bit of thinking I decided to push the car away. Note to self: Ask someone to help next time. I was strong enough, but my shoulder used to push is red/blue/green today and pretty sore....
I walked home, took the XJ40 with a trailer on the tow bar and a large empty drum along with some piping, tubing, fuel line clamps and so on.
I then coupled my line onto the fuel line in the engine bay before the fuel filter (which is in engine bay on a PreHE) and then I turned on ignition and thereby the fuel pump a few times.
It looked like if I had to do this many times, but not ridiculously many times. With nothing else to do I might as well count, and 240 times were the number of Ignition on's to do to pump out some 35 liters.
Reconnect, 3 liters poured from my canister (good thinking to remember that ) to get the car to the pump and then I was ready for my well deserved ride...

 

I did this on my XJ8 (which in spite of all luxury did not have this), and it one of the better upgrades.
Nice on a XJ-S too, and a bit more yellow will make it way warmer looking!

 

Hmm, mine does have FWL...!?

 

I just got a XJ and the sales person told me the Key fobs are very expensive (800.00) each. They gave me a Land Rover to drive while they were working on my XJ and they had a silicone glove over the key fob. I came home and went on line and found them. ordered 2 .... under 10.00 usa! good insurance cheap!

and how strange that my alternator belt also destroyed itself on the way home from work...

 

Pulled the cover off, connected the battery and removed hundreds of moth ***** in the Trunk /motor/ drivers and passengers and said a prayer. After sitting since Nov 1st I prayed the mice had not taken over my wiring and it would start. Not one mouse turd was located and now ignition. It took tree turns and away it went. I am back in Love.

Are those manifold end caps you have there stock? Is this an available part? I would like a couple of those!

 

They remind me of the ones for the 6.0l V12...

 

As Grant often mentions, the over-run valves are there on some model years and were deleted on some model years, and I think were never fitted to the 6 litre engines. Those end caps are what was fitted when the over-run valves were not fitted, and the best place to find them would be a breakers, I think.

Mine look totally different... Just some triangular flat plates... But then again, mine is a 1989 model...

Did the late 5.3l also get the 6.0l injector rail setup?
