Hi guys,

Getting ready to do the SVR fenders, and I was thinking of changing out the rocker panels too, but Im having some confusion and questions.

What years and models do the rocker panels change, and to what extent? I'm losing my mind trying to figure this out. 3 pictures below.

The first one is my Car, a 14 V8S. It appears to be the same one as the second picture, which I believe is a 2016 R? I am finding part numbers for both a finish panel as well as the rocker panel itself. But it just looks like the rocker is painted where the split is in the rockers?

The SVR is third. It looks different, mainly just the inlay of the rocker is deeper.

What am I missing here? i will be doing an orange w/ black accents color scheme. What are your opinions for best looking? Should I just paint mine? Am I missing this stupid finish panel?

 

The upper portion, directly below the door, is a separate piece from the lower portion seen in black in picture 2. Only the lower portion has changed year to year (except on the SVR).

2nd picture is a 2015 R. Pictures 1 and 2 are the same. 14-15MY vehicles had that rocker variant. 16MY+ had a much wider and generally more unappealing rocker (unless you're me and then you got one of each).

The last picture is the SVR of course which gets its own, slightly unique rocker, both upper and lower.

Some prefer the lower portion to be black, they believe it makes the car look less tall or "fat". Regardless, I prefer the earlier years, the later year larger one is not my favorite...

 

And some prefer no sills at all. Shows off the car's curvaceous figure far better. If I were to add anything it would not be a horizontal sill but rather a vertical ground effects panel

 

All are beautiful but I must +1 on with Unhinged on no sills.

 

I personally think that trying to make your car look like SVR when it isn't one is posing.

 

SinF--been awhile since I have heard that term "poser" thanks for the trip down memory lane. And I completely agree with you.

 

Concur. Especially when I think its debatable if the SVR fenders look better or worse...
