Default Part No. wanted - rear spring pan upper bolts

Hi all together,

By any chance does anyone know if the bolts of the rear top spring pans (4/each side) can be replaced and if yes, what's their part no?
When replacing the A-frame and the differential monostrut of my '00 XJR, I stumbled across these bolts (+nuts) and they're quite rusty. Loosening the nuts a bit for dropping the subframe was not very reassuring, so I plan to replace the nuts (and if possible the bolts too) when replacing the shock absorber's top bushings and isolators anyway.
As the bolts do have a torx tip I hope they can be unscrewed with a suitable torx nut. But before doing so, I want to have the replacement parts at hand as my car is my daily driver.
Jaguarclassicparts lists only the nut+washer (part 29; JZH100034; https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/uk/jaguar-xj-x308-parts/steering-and-suspension/shock-absorbers-and-stop-rubbers/damper-and-spring-fittings-rear), but not the bolts itself. Am I looking at the wrong section?

Thank you very much for your help!
Cheers, Alexander

E-torx! That might be the only place on this car I've seen that uses it aside from GenV Eaton blowers. It seemed like you were in the right section, I did a quick search and didn't see it either, but it could be in some odd body-related section there.

Barring everything else, you could probably replace them with set screws of the appropriate length and thread pitch. Or just regular bolts, but I imagine they're set up as set screw+nut to make install easier and act as guide pins. Those pans can twist and slide around on reinstall pretty easily, so using normal bolts as a replacement may be tricky. Something like these may work https://www.mcmaster.com/#set-screws/=1bau460

Hi Alexander,

I'm not sure if what you are describing are studs (rods threaded on both ends) rather than bolts, but on the rear shock absorber diagram for the X300, under Unillustrated Parts, there are studs listed as part number TE108041J. SNG Barratt shows this photo:

Is it possible this is the same part used in the X308?

Cheers,

Don

My peneth worth. Done the rear subframe bushes recently and had the same issue. The 'bolts' on the bodywork are studs. I had one off as it came off when I undid one of the nuts (ps dont use a power tool to remove the nuts as you may shear the rusty studs). They are the same as the manifold to cats studs(see above DAIM), but...i dont know the part number(more than happy to be corrected if im wrong!). Altough a bit rusty I cleaned them a bit and replaced the nuts with the ones you list, but mine came flanged and not with washer.
Hope that helps a bit.

Hi to all,

thanks for chiming in!
@DonB: You're dead right - I'm talking about studs rather than bolts.
@sybillshep: Many thanks for that great hint! JEPC says it's part no. C2S9536 for the cat to manifold studs. I just ordered them and they do look exactly like what I expected them to look like.

Cheers a lot!
Alexander

@sybillshep: By any chance do you (or anybody else) remember the E-Torx nut size for the studs? I didn't receive delivery yet but I want to be prepared with the right tools when I put the car on the lift.

Hi both, I know it is a bit late but I'm looking at the same problem with rust and German winters. Was part no. C2S9536 correct? Thank you!
