Default battery problems, asking for hints

Hello,
1 week ago someone entered my car and turned on the headlights (slept in the car probably). In the morning the car wouldn't start. The battery was not fully drained though. I started it up with a booster. During the whole week I drove the car 100mi a day and it got recharged apparently. I never ndd the booster again.
In the week end I use the car less. This morning it worked perfectly.
In the evening I go for moving the car and I turn the ignition key and everything is dead. I attach the booster and the dashboard flashes when I Try to turn on engine. Engine won't start. Battery is fully drained.
I removed the battery which is now charging.
Time for a new battery ?
I see there is a small fuse box on the positive pole. Can that one have something to do with all this ?
Never had a problem before, troubles started when it went almost drain during the night with the headlights on 1 week ago.
I'm trying a full recharge right now.

any hints or comments ?
thank you

A8 size battery is preferred . Current battery can be tested at the parts store for free . No battery /alternator light ? Pin 4 to 5 on the ignition key in / key out switch starts the car go to sleep sequence otherwise it stays alive and drains battery . Notice if your steering column retracts and tilts up on key removal as this is a valid test for this switch with the column control in auto . The tilt position sensor will sometimes bind up the actual motor movement . You can put a meter on the little fuse holder as it is out with the battery .

if then I move the knob on the steering column with key off it should not move right ?

Default misfire and manufacturer control

Hello,
I recharged the battery overnight.
I did install it back in the morning (BTW it's raining heavily outside).
I turned the engine on and after 2 minutes I heard the car shaking and
check engine light on.
Code read P0301 cylinder 1 misfire and P1313 manufacturer control.
Now I'm clueless. The mechanic is 1 mile away can I still drive the car with 5 cyl instead of 6 working ?
thanks

With the high humidity you might remove the coil cover and see it arcing and shorting out in the dark ( Bob's trick ) . # 1 is either the front or the back , can't remember . The earlier inline 6 ( AJ6 vs. AJ16 ) is opposite .

Yes you can drive it with 5 the short distance

You can move the coil to a different cylinder and watch the fault as a code go the P030 X

Kapton tape on the lower portion of the coil as it goes into the well is a short term solution is the shorting is there .

1996 Jaguar VP. I left the headlight on a week ago and drained the battery. I have a CTEK and charged for over three days. Looks like battery is not charging all the way past 12 volts. Getting a reading of only 11.77. After two or three starts, battery hesitates to start. Battery was installed Dec 2012. Here in Phoenix, that seems right time to replace the battery due to extreme summer heat and is hard on the batteries. What is the best battery to replace. Existing Battery has 825 amps cold cranking. Thanks in advance

With a little valve grinding compound on the end of a wooden dowel rod spinning around on a drill motor cleaning up the irregular surface of the magnesium casting in the T seal seat with some high temp gasket sealer during installation . Working on a permitate solution with Dupont and will have a Youtube video with some good music later and you'll meet my Lady Penelope , think Deft Punk ,,,,,, something wonderful as a solution and really cool looking and good music should be played really loud . My first retirement check came and I'm excited about what she can be .

Other wise clean the valve cover coil well and coil tip with carb cleaner or similar and it will be fine for a while , no dealer required .

perhaps I Should open a separate thread about the ignition failure on cyl 1.
Anyway I moved the coil to another cylinder and the fault is following the coil. So I guess bad coil. There is a tiny deposit of oil on all the spark plugs seat. This is fault of stupid mechanic who overfilled the oil level over the max 2 months ago. I think the problem is the coil.

There is a common problem with the X300 as the oil leaks into the well under positive crankcase pressure so it's not oil fill etiquette . Wait til you see the video with the solution I'm developing .......

ok problem fixed. Even if there is little oil leak the problem was the solenoid which was broken. I got a brand new Lucas solenoid and now everything is fine.
Looking forward for the video.
