Default Adaptive Headlight control Module AFS HCM

Need help!

My AFT headlight warning light is blinking. My scanner shows permanent fault in HCM module. Biggest problem is I can not find the module. We are not talking about the modules on the lights themselves, but rather a separate module that links them to the height sensors. Please advise if you can...

Thanks, Eric

It's in the passenger side footwell on the bulkhead. I think you have to remove the trim cover under the glovebox to see it. Looks like this

Thank you, I have looked under the glove box under the trim on the side of the car, but on on the engine compartment bulkhead. I'll give it a look today!

Thank You!

Found the module and unplugged and re-plugged it in. Scanner still throws U3000-49 code as permanent error. Scanned with HCM unplugged and scanner said it could not communicate with the module. There fore the module is communicating but could still be the problem. My part number is one letter different that several that I see on Ebay.com. Should I try buying one and replacing mine? I'm thinking odds are it won't fix my issue. Any thoughts? Does U3000-49 give any specific casuses. U3000 is generic, but not sure about the "-49" on the end.

U3000-49 is "Control Module - Internal electronic failure". This is a generic code that can apply to several modules, but obviously the fact that you get the headlamp levelling failure message implies that's the relevant module.

Hi Eric,

What scanner did you use to query the headlight system? It was my understanding that normal scan tools won't work and you have to go to a Jag dealer for something like that, since it's a separate system from the ECU.

Thanks,

Eric

Anyone reading this looking for the AFS module with a RIGHT HAND DRIVE car! It is located just under the accelerator pedal - remove the piece of plastic trim adjacent to the pedal, pull back the carpet and there it is.

The service manual procedure of remove blower motor, remove carpet, remove trim, remove subwoofer panel is for LEFT HAND DRIVE presumably!

Hope that's useful to someone one day
