Default Different real main seal diameters? AJ126

Hi,

I recently rebuilt the AJ126 (3.0L V6) engine in my 2014 Jaguar F-Type. The engine runs great, however I am experiencing a small oil leak on the transmission side.

I removed the transmission and installed a new seal, but I suspect I may have made a mistake. During inspection, I didn’t notice anything unusual, but it appeared that the outer seal lip (dust lip) was not contacting the shaft. I installed the new seal with great care and precision, yet there still seems to be a slight gap between the seal and the shaft.

I have attached a photo for reference.

Are there different types of seals used for the AJ126? My car was built in 2013.

Kind regards,

Adam

If you want, I can also make it sound more technical or more casual depending on where you plan to post it (forum, dealer, email, etc.).
