Over the next few days I have to see if I can repair this very rusty trunk floor in the 1988 car I am working on.

The first picture is of as found state and the second pic is after I cleaned it up a little and opened up areas that were really thin.

Cut out all the rust and laminate the entire trunk bottom in fibreglass, use mat not cloth. For extra "insurance" run the glass up the vertical surfaces and pop rivet it to the metal. (This only applies if you are packing a full trunk of cannonballs.)

I have a trunk floor that you can have...... not sure how to ship a bugger like that though.... Its a 94 (again). Come and get it.

I have no clue if the trunk floor out of a MY94 car is vastly different than a MY88 one.
Is it possible you could take a few photos so I can compare?

OK, cut it the old bits, gipe the overlay joint well (with SIKAFLEX marine sealant) then pop-rivet it to the old floor. Easy!

Last time I did a floor patch like that I used the skin off of a water heater and roofing tar with the pop rivers. What a mess!

 

Roofing tar never REALLY sets up, especially in the warm ...MISTAKE!
