Lightbulb MId-Atlantic region section ?

I posted this back in 2010 and did not get enough support to make a case for Jim. I am ready to try again:

I would like to propose that the mid-Atlantic states (DC, MD, VA, DE, WV) secede from the rest of the South(US) .
I mean only on this forum.

The current list of states in South(US) is too vast for common regional discussion, and there are large concentrations of members in both the proposed new mid-Atlantic(US) group and the South (US) group.

Thoughts?

Subscribed, to see what interest there is.

What we can't be doing is to continually subdivide all the Regional sections. It would be never ending. North Cali/South Cali/Texas.......

Brittany (just for me)

If there are enough takers, then I will lobby Jim to make the change.

I certainly see your point about the vastness of the existing area but if we are to consider this change then I would request that all members posting into this South US section include their specific area in the title of any new thread. AR, LA, MS, KY, TN, AL, GA, FL, NC, SC, WV, VA, DE, DC, MD
otherwise it will be a nightmare to retro-manage and ensure that posts are not lost in the wrong section.

We recently added a Northwest section, but so far apart from myself and Jim there has only been one thread poster Clevername who is doing his best to get the section off the ground.

So guys, give up enough ammunition, post away, and you never know.

Translator/Jim, I would day that if you look at the posts from the section, a lot of them are stemming from the DC/VA/MD area or you have a second group from Florida. With this in mind, that would then make sense that if you broke up the group into say 3 regions where they would be labeled say "Mid Atlantic" (MD/VA/DC/DE/WV), Lower Atlantic (NC/SC/FL/GA) and then say "Southern Midwest" (AR/LA/MS/KY/TN/AL), that would keep all.

At this point, I would say you close the "South" section and then only transfer over the topics that people ask to move. Then after say a year, you can completely get rid of the "South" section as it will have been incorporated into the other 3 sections and all information that would be desired to be transferred would have been transferred by then.

Another variation of the same theme. Could always just skip the Southern Midwest and incorporate TN/KY in to the Mid Atlantic and then the rest into the South Atlantic.

Actually, DC, MD, DE and WV seceded from the South during the War of Northern Agression. Also, northern VA has been occupied by the Yankees for the last several decades.

I live in NoVa and would agree to it!! Nothing against other regions but were the best and deserve our own spot!

Mid-Atlantic sub-designation works well for another forum I'm on.

Default Good idea

I think a Mid-Atlantic section is a great idea. Roughly centered on the enormous Baltimore-Washington metro area, but reaching down through Richmond to Tidewater Virginia. It took me a moment to find this section as I was looking for "Southeast" originally. AR, LA, MS, KY, TN, AL, GA, FL, NC, SC, WV, VA, DE, DC, MD are a lot of states imho!

Did everyone know, the B-W metro is now the fourth largest CMSA (CSA) in the country? (Acronym used to mean "Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area" and now is CSA for "Combined Statistical Area". It is the broadest measure of population agglomerations.)

Table of United States Combined Statistical Areas

We in the south do consider that as YANKEE land, but we will still allow you'll to visit enjoy the mild winter, golf courses open 12 months a year, the beautiful beaches, the smell of Hawaiian tropics suntan oils, and southern bells. Need I say more. Good luck

I am in southern Charles County, Maryland. My vote is for a Mid-Atlantic region.

Ok, lets do this and make it work guys.

I'm considering Thermo's idea of splitting this into 3 regions instead of 2.

If this sounds good, give me a nod and I'll get it set up to see how it goes!
Worst case scenario it can be reduced again to 2 in necessary.

Waiting..............??

Thanks Jim! I think Thermo is right on the money. A definite thumbs-up to his proposal for three regions.

The 3 regions makes sense and looks like the best way to go.
Thanks Jim for taking this on.

I think its a good idea also. The district of columbia, maryland, and virginia area(the DMV) has quite a few members. We have been trying to have more meets lately!

Make sure you transfer the ash-mart jaguar from virginia beach, I like seeing his project come together.

DC,MD,VA,WV and DE sounds perfect to me. Most of my life was in Delaware, and now I'm in VA with my 2005 BRG XK8 Convertible. This is the first time that I have come across this part of the Forum.
