Default Need a shop in Maine to rebuild an engine

Looking for advice on a shop in Maine with good experience rebuilding a XK8 engine. Posted a question in the XK8 forum on either replacing or rebuilding the engine of my 1999 XK8 with low milage. The overall opinion was the Jag dealer I use was too quick to recommend a rebuilt engine. The first step being to pull the heads to see what occurred when the engine overheated.

The engine would have to come apart that engine may be a nickasil engine and it would be better to replace it. It would have to come apart to see how bad it is. I am a Jaguar master who worked at the dealer for 17 years and went on my own 3 years ago, if you could get it down to my shop I could look at it for you I am in Upton, Ma nott far off 495.

Thanks Dana

Dana you were a Jag master tech when you worked for a dealer. You are now a former Jag master tech.

Yes the engine is a nikasil engine. Since originally posting my need I decided to order a rebuilt engine to have our Maine Jaguar dealer install. Once the engine is replaced I will be storing the original engine in case this model reaches a more collectable level in the future.

Sounds good I would have suggested a used engine, I have done a few and have had no problems with them.

If you purchase the engine from a Jag dealer there is a $2500. core charge on the engine.

The engine is a rebuilt used engine where all of the internal parts have been replaced and the cylinders have been lined. They have a core charge of $450 which depending on the condition of the engine that is sent back will be refunded back. Two year warranty on the engine.
