Default June 25th meet and drive

So it is time....
Gonna call up Muddydog and get a mass email out, prodding all the sleepyheads to dust off their kitty for a day in the sun.

Mount Rainier calls, and a loop is a fun day full of scenic vistas and good company. I invite all of you to join me in celebrating our National Parks 100th anniversary by traversing the foothills of our famous mountain on a warm and relaxing day.

I know very few are ready for the season, but lets step up, even with just a few cars, and get our heads and hearts focused on the cars we own and love.

Meet at Safeway in Enumclaw for a 9am departure and clockwise loop.
Parting meal to be at BJs Brew house next to the Tacoma Mall.

PM me with questions!
Vince

If you need a mouse to run in front, I'm in. :-)

Who wha? I might be able to make this. My mother-in-law is in town.

I was just up behind Rainier last weekend, too...

You and I just did this a month ago.... Glad your willing to repeat the run so soon, just know that the pace on this one is set for Vistas! Might make a side stop up at Tipso Lake.
I have a new stretch of asphalt to add this time, very slow paced and scenic.

Rahtok; Awesome! Lets get this season rolling!

Peace!

My problem is that, for medical reasons, I can't do the long long days anymore and have to be back home by 5 or 6. I'd love to join in but I suspect we would not get far enough around the mountain to allow me to break for home (2 hours + from Elbe) in time.

I wish that I could make it, but this Saturday is one of the rare few that I have to work.
Bummed!

I know last time Marko and I did this run, we were approaching Tacoma around 3pm. However the pace we set was somewhat adrenalized with just the two of us...
You and any others are always welcome to travel only as far as you wish, then turn and part company... (Or maybe just join us in Tacoma for dinner?)

Yikes, hate to hear it....hope all is well...

Hummmmm we seem to be heading for a brick wall at high speed here.

Several cant make it, and one says it is too far.
What is the general reasoning for all the rest of you? I'd like to know how to make these drives happen to everyones liking.

Too Long?
No solid itinerary?
Prefer destinations and returns? (Sunrise opens 1 July)
Too repetitive?

Help Muddy and I figure these things out, and we will go out of our way if possible to make it happen.

Rahtok, if we fail to get others then I'll let you call it, including bailing yourself.
I'm going driving Saturday, and the destination isn't nearly as important as the experience itself. Marko and I stumbled across a few interesting roads off of Hwy 6, north-northwest of Chehalis. Might be fun getting lost back in that area just to see whats there....

Hi Vince,

Thanks for working on getting a drive together!

All day drives are a bit much for me and if they start out south of Seattle that adds a few extra hours for me since I live in Snohomish. So I'll pass on this one. For me, a perfect drive is in the four to six hour range with a meal somewhere in between. Any more than that gets a little long for me.

Thanks again!

Looks like Rahtok is itching to put asphalt under his tires, as am I, so this drive is happening. For any of you setting on the fence, be at the Safeway parking lot in Enumclaw NLT 9am.... We will roll from there........

Peace!

Well, a special tip of the hat to Rahtok, who really made this drive worthwhile.
Having only ourselves to answer to, we deviated from the Rainier loop once we hit Chinook pass.... Following Hwy 410 to sunny Yakima, we took pause for a pizza at a place called Sharkys. A small place and friendly owner, where they still rolled out the dough and hand tossed it.
From there we made way up Yakima Canyon road, where you know two XKRs had a chance to stretch legs, as well as enjoy a beautiful riverside drive.
We kept to the side roads to Cle Elum, then jumped on 90 for the final leg.

Wish more Jags had joined in, but having 2 2010 XKRs made for a great time in itself!

Thanks Rahtok! You rock dude!

Oh man, those are some great shots! I need to remember my GoPro next time too. Had a great time -- it was nice to hear a pair of Blown 5L too. Yours from the front, mine from the back!

Good times, Good times!
